This morning I went to express my support to the Huy Chean shoe factory workers on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. This 7-year-old Taiwanese-owned factory, which produces Puma (a German brand) shoes, has only changed its name to Chean Luck but pretends to start its business from scratch with no past obligations or debts towards anybody. The workers have been protesting for two months to demand the payment of their severance pays and back salaries, to no avail.
